A humbling and blessed Lenten season to all. We pray that you are all right in heart and spirit as we reflect on this solemn on church seasons, as we walk in the Lenten journey that leads us to the cross on good Friday and ultimately the empty tomb on Easter Sunday, Christ's day of resurrection. We hope you will join us on Wednesdays as we reflect on this journey. We are focusing on the people associated with our Savior as we focus on "Christ on Trial", our theme for our midweek services. Join us at 11:00 AM.
Good Thursday to everyone. We pray this year has been a good and blessed one for everyone thus far. Our church is looking for ways to reach out better to everyone not only in the Kern River Valley but all our Facebook friends. One way we are looking to improve out outreach is to digitally: by way of Facebook and any future websites we may have (we have one, but have not made use of it lately). We desire any input anyone can give to us. if you would like to see live streaming of our services (or just recorded videos of our services) on Facebook, let us know. If there is some other tool we can utilize on here in some way let us know. Please post responses below. As a small update: our Valley is now enjoying lots of true winter weather. Usually, our little valley is lucky if we have rain during the winter. But since this past Christmas, we have seen snow 3-4 times and lots and lots of rain. This weather brings with it threats of flooding in our fire area from this past summer. But praise God things have been relatively quite in this regard. In fact, God is blessing our area with lots of snow in the mountains north of us, lots of water in the river (and for months to come once the snow melts),and an actual lake (which we have not had for several years now due to drought and other factors). So we ask you to continue to keep our Valley safe and continue to bless it as he as done so far this year. Lenten Services start March 1. More on that as the date draws closer. God's blessings to all.
Greetings celebrators of the epiphany. With snowy conditions today, we encourage all to stay safe. Roads are slushy and slippery. The church parking lot is equally slushy and slick but draining. Parking out back is not encouraged. We will still have church and Sunday school. Just stay safe in coming if you are planning on attending today.

A good and blessed advent to all. It has been several months since we have posted, and for that we apologize. First , a brief update on our area after the fires in our area. Of course by now the fires are out. Our members who lost are all adopting to their new lives either by rebuilding in their old locations, moving into new homes elsewhere in the area, or moving on elsewhere. We continue to pray for them and all the other families still recovering from the fire devastation. This winter season brings a new threat, however: floods. Because of the devastation of the wildfire, the thread of potential flooding in the area is ever-looming. Please continue to pray for all in the area for their continued recovery and safety this winter. ✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝ WE WANT YOUR IDEAS...... Shepherd of the Hills has always strived to "Walk with the shepherd (and) live as His disciple". We continue to do this in the many years to come. In light of the new technology available to using Facebook, we are looking for ways to continue on the mission of sharing the gospel with others, and we seek ways to do it on Facebook. So we ask you for input on how we can use Facebook to share the good news to the world and how we can use it to benefit you. We will explore all ideas. ****Would you like to see daily or weekly devotions posted or links to devotions? ****Do you want to see live feeds of our sermons or services? ****Is there another idea you would like to see happen? Please let us know. One thing we will be doing is posting weekly events on Sundays.....starting today: WEDNESDAY: Midweek advent service 11:00 AM SATURDAY : Christmas hymn sing (3:00 PM) and Christmas Eve candlelight service (3:30 PM) SUNDAY 12/25: Christmas Day / Sunday worship 11:00 AM Sunday school 9:30 AM
